Our One Faith

Light from Light: A Theological Reflection on the Nicene Creed by Robert Barron

It may be surprising to some how ecumenically this book reads, given that it was written by a bishop of the Catholic Church who is pointedly known for his evangelical focus. Though published by the Academic imprint of Word on Fire Publishing, it is also accessible to the general reader, who is carried along by Barron’s rhetorical flow. Bishop Barron has always sought to “marry” the sermon with the journal article, and this desire is well realized here. In reading this book, I was reminded of a similar scholarly walk through the Apostles’ Creed by Joseph Ratzinger in his Introduction to Christianity. This book, too, surprised its audience by its ecumenical engagement, despite also being written by a Catholic bishop.
