Bring Hillsdale to Touchstone

Hello,

This is Sofie Kellar again writing to you from Touchstone’s offices where I am interning this summer.

In my Tuesday email, I shared my story about how the 2018 Patriarchy Conference changed my life, including my decision to attend Hillsdale College, where I’m now a rising junior.

After reading my email, Touchstone Executive Editor Douglas Johnson told me he would set aside up to $9,000 to fund scholarships for Hillsdale students who would like to attend the 2023 Conference.

“I’ll leave it to you,” he said, “to raise the money, recruit the students, and coordinate this with the powers that be at Hillsdale. Good luck!”

Student life at Hillsdale bubbles around intellectual field trips just like this. We’ve had conferences and trips almost every semester, such as to ISI or the Russell Kirk Center, and I personally recommend that every student focus on exploring these opportunities, not just limit themselves to grinding out papers and studying for that A. True learning happens when students reach out to like-minded professionals, develop their networking skills, and befriend adults who have been exactly where they are and can guide where they’re going.

Although $9,000 is a lot of money to raise from one email, if you can help me across this first hurdle before the close of the fiscal year on June 30, I promise to do all the heavy-lifting at Hillsdale to make this happen. And if you plan on attending this year’s conference as well, please be sure to track me down so that I can thank you in person!
