The Destruction of the Second Temple
August 2, AD 70
Under Roman assault during the Jewish Revolt, the Second Temple burned to the ground from Saturday, August 2, to Sunday, August 3, AD 70.
The Temple was seen by Jews as the place of God’s presence on earth. Jesus twice referred to it as “my Father’s house” (Luke 2:49; John 2:16).
